Terminal Count
YOU ARE THE LAUNCH DIRECTOR.
Every status update about your vehicle comes in over the headset, called out
by crew members manning their consoles. When one of them flags
something, the call becomes yours entirely. Take their word for it and move on.
Ask them to double-check and wait in real time for a response. Call
for an actual repair and pay for it straight off the mission clock. Get it
wrong: it's on you.
The countdown doesn't pause for you to think. At T-01:00, repairs lock out
for good; any live issues not sorted are what you're flying with. If it's too
much, you can recycle the count and buy back a few minutes; real launches do this
too, but the shortcuts you took to get here don't just disappear.
Controls: mouse or trackpad only. Select an item in the lower portion of the console,
then GO / VERIFY / HOLD, or use RECYCLE / ABORT independent of any selection.
Features:
Four consoles, four systems: CAPCOM, GUIDANCE, PROP, and FIDO each flag their own issues
Every call is real: GO trusts your crew's advice, VERIFY sends the call back for more
information to confirm, HOLD spends clock time to actually fix a problem if found
Recycle the count: roll the clock back if you're feeling overwhelmed or you missed
something
Launch debrief: a full transcript after launch that reads back every call you made and
how it affected the launch
Four available endings: clean launch, bad orbit, loss of vehicle, or a scrubbed mission
